According to industry sources, the next flagship phones of Apple and Samsung are expected to adopt unprecedented materials for their main bodies: ceramic for the Galaxy S3 and liquid metal for the iPhone 5, both being thin, light and highly resistant to external impact. The new phase of the rivalry is because neither one of them can get a decisive edge over the other solely with their OS and Ap specifications, features or design.

The rumor said Apple will use liquidmetal material in the shell or casing for the next iPhone. According to Liquidmetal's website, Liquidmetal alloys combine over twice the strength of titanium with the processing efficiency of plastics. Is this material like Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator 2, I don't know. But we expect this feature for iPhone, don't we?
Apple is always the pioneer that is applying technology and innovation to its product. It is also reported that Apple is buying such in-cell multi-touch panels from Sharp and Toshiba. Here is the term of in-cell multi-touch technology: It is built directly into the TFT LCD panel, and is not a separate layer above the LCD panel. This allows devices to be thinner and lighter, and the display itself to be brighter.
While 3D technology is no more a revolutionary technology in mobile devices, Apple is expected to tweak it, improve it and make it something new in Apple next generation iPhone. Though the existing 3D cameras and video records can get three-dimensional information from objects but they are incapable of getting detailed information of the shapes, surfaces and depth of the objects. So the Apple's goal is to capture light and image information in such a way that would create an incredible 3D image that can be seen without glasses. What an inspiring product if Apple could make it.
